  Marijuana – Mexican poly-drug groups are primarily responsible for the marijuana that enters the state.  However, the indoor production and cultivation of marijuana has become a significant issue in the greater Las Vegas area.  Since 2001, Nevada is one of nine states in the US that allows using marijuana for medicinal reasons.  Another factor is that the possession of small amounts (one ounce or less) of the drug is no longer a state felony as it was decriminalized by a new state law that went into effect 10 years ago.
• Methamphetamine – without a doubt, meth is and has been the most commonly abused illegal substance in the state.  The majority of the meth that comes into Nevada enters the state via ground transportation venues which are used by Mexican DTO’s.  Additionally, there are numerous clandestine laboratories within the state that are producing meth within the state.
