Aetna Drug Rehab Coverage in Utah

Aetna Insurance Coverage for Drug Rehab in UtahThe first step to overcoming an issue with drugs or alcohol is first admitting that there’s a problem. But after that, arguably just as important, an individual needs to determine the best course of action when it comes to treatment. Generally speaking, the best two routes to go in this realm involve either outpatient or inpatient treatment. Outpatient treatment is generally less intensive, as aside from a few meetings every week, an individual is permitted to carry out their life as normal, going to work or school and living at home. Inpatient treatment is generally the more effective treatment for those with more serious cases of substance abuse or addiction, due to its highly intensive 24/7 around-the-clock treatment. With inpatient treatment, patients are admitted into a specialized facility for 30, 60, 90, or up to 120 days for daily care, which may consist of individual counseling, group counseling and alternative therapy methods.

While treatment is almost always necessary for those wishing to overcome substance abuse, one big issue remains when it comes to receiving it – how to pay for it. This is especially true when it comes to inpatient treatment, which is generally more expensive than outpatient treatment. That’s where there’s great value in having a quality healthcare plan, such as those offered by Aetna, on your side. A good healthcare plan will cover most of, if not all of, the costs of treatment, easing the financial burden on an individual and their family.

This post will take a closer look at some of Aetna’s healthcare options in the state of Utah.

Aetna Healthcare in Utah: The Basics

Aetna divvies its healthcare plans up into three basic groupings within the state – gold, silver, and bronze. As you may expect, gold-level plans carry more medical coverage than bronze and silver – about 80 percent of all health care costs, to be exact. Gold plans also have lower out of pocket costs when it comes to the likes of deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. However, gold plans generally carry more expensive premiums.

Silver is the second-best healthcare plan option, as far as coverage is concerned, as such plans cover up to 70 percent of healthcare costs. While deductibles and copays may be a tad higher for silver-level plans compared to gold plans, the annual premiums are much less. Finally, the bronze plans cover about 60 percent of healthcare costs. Bronze plans come with the lowest annual premium fees, but also cover the least amount when it comes to medical care. On that note, deductibles and copays are generally much more expensive than they are with gold and silver plans.

Most plans, whether gold, silver, or bronze, cover substance abuse treatment in some way.

Aetna Rehabilitation Healthcare Plans in Utah

As we noted earlier, most Aetna healthcare plans offered in Utah cover substance abuse rehabilitation in some way. Some plans, obviously, cover it more than others – it all depends on the particular plan on hand. Take, for instance, the Gold $10 Copay AVN plan, which carries a $1,400 individual deductible and a $2,800 family deductible. When it comes to inpatient substance abuse treatment, the plan covers it at 20 percent co-insurance for in-network providers only. For outpatient services, there’s a $40 copayment. Neither are covered if an out-of-network provider is selected.

Another offered plan is the Silver $10 Copay AVN HMO, which carries a $3,500 individual deductible and $7,000 family deductible. When it comes to inpatient rehabilitation for substance abuse, the service is covered in-network at 30 percent coinsurance, following a $500 copay that must be provided upon admission.

Lastly, there’s also the Bronze $15 Copay AVN HMO, with $6,850 and $13,700 deductibles, respectively. When it comes to inpatient treatment for substance abuse, the plan covers it at 0 percent coinsurance.
